Sialkot Dry Port Trust clears export and import cargo at Sambrial around the clock for the industries of Sialkot, Gujranwala, Wazirabad, Daska and Gujrat — then carries it under customs bond, sealed and GPS-tracked, to the sea and air ports of Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad, and by road to Central Asia as a TIR hub.

In 1984, fifty-two exporters of Sialkot pooled their own money so the region could clear customs at home instead of in Karachi. The result was the first private-sector dry port in Asia.

More than forty years on, SDPT is where Sialkot’s sports goods, surgical instruments, leather and textiles meet Pakistan Customs. Declarations are filed online through WeBOC and the Pakistan Single Window, goods are examined on site day or night, and cargo leaves sealed and tracked — to Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad, or by road to Central Asia and Russia under TIR.

How an export consignment moves through the port

  1. Cargo reaches Sambrial

    Bring it in your own truck, or book our tractor-trolley to collect it from the factory.

  2. Customs examine and clear

    Your clearing agent files the goods declaration online in WeBOC; Pakistan Customs examines the goods on site, day or night.

  3. Sealed in a bonded vehicle

    The load is sealed, insured and tracked by GPS for the whole journey. Follow it online.

  4. Handed over at the port

    Our terminal staff hand it to the shipping line or airline at Karachi, Lahore or Islamabad — or it leaves under TIR for Central Asia.
